The 10th SHN course has therefore been postponed until 2015 to ensure that recent and important developments in the global school health and nutrition community are included in the course syllabus, so that a course better aligned and structured to empower SHN implementers and policy makers to meet child health and education targets in light of this changing post-2015 agenda will be facilitated.
The revised dates for this year's course will be disseminated shortly.
About the Course
The course will bring together SHN policy makers, United Nations and civil society staff from across Anglophone Africa to focus on effective SHN implementation to benefit the lives of millions of children and advance MDGs on Education and Health.
10 day course breakdown
According to UNICEF
children with disabilities in low and middle income countries have a 90% chance of not attending school and are 1.8 times more like to be neglected than children without disabilities. Seeking to address this issue in the Africa region, the course's key issue in focus will be “
Inclusion of the School-Age Child.”
This year's course fee is US($)1,950 which includes all lectures, training materials, meals, refreshments, field site travel and accommodation. Participants are expected to identify national, institutional or corporate donors willing to cover their course fees as well as personal and travel expenses. PCD can offer assistance in the sponsorship process alongside letters of acceptance to the course and further documentation necessary demonstrating the course's content and impact.
