Following the success of the inaugural training course in School Health & Nutrition (SHN) in Southeast Asia in Bangkok during February 2012, the
Partnership for Child Development,
Mahidol University and the
Japan Consortium for Global School Health Research co-organised the 2nd SHN Training Course in the region, hosted by the Lao PDR Ministries of Education & Sport and Health, between 13 - 20 February 2013. The 2013 course welcomed 40 participants from 11 South and Southeast Asian countries. Attendees included representatives of: the
World Food Programme,
Save the Children,
GIZ and the
Global Partnership for Education. For eight days attendees were able to impart experiences, regional knowledge, attend action planning workshops, expert lectures and field learning.
The key topics of the course focused on Parasite Control (deworming) and human resources management (teacher training). Prof. Sir Roy Anderson, Director of the
London Centre for NTD Research opened the event, and keynote speeches were given from Vice-ministers of Education & Health ministries in the Government of Laos. |
